Description
Sloppy Joe Potato Skillet combining browned ground beef in a savory ketchup and Worcestershire sauce with diced potatoes simmered until tender, all in one pan. An easy, comforting, kid-friendly weeknight dinner ready in 45 minutes.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
4 medium potatoes diced
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 green bell pepper diced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
Shredded cheese optional for topping
Fresh parsley chopped for garnish
Instructions
1. Wash and dice potatoes into bite-sized pieces and set aside
2. Brown ground beef in olive oil 5 to 7 minutes and drain excess fat
3. Add remaining oil and saute onion bell pepper and garlic 3 to 4 minutes
4. Stir in ketchup Worcestershire brown sugar chili powder paprika salt and pepper and simmer 5 to 7 minutes
5. Add diced potatoes and water cover and cook on low 15 to 20 minutes until tender
6. Check doneness adding water if dry and stirring occasionally
7. Top with cheese if desired cover to melt then garnish with parsley and serve
Notes
Dice potatoes uniformly for even cooking.
Use fresh potatoes and quality ground meat for the best flavor.
Add water gradually only if the mixture looks dry rather than upfront.
