Ingredients

6 cups fresh peaches peeled and sliced

1 cup granulated sugar for peaches

1/4 cup water

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar for batter

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C)

2. Combine sliced peaches with 1 cup sugar water and lemon juice and let sit 10 minutes

3. Melt butter in baking dish in the oven

4. Mix flour 1 cup sugar baking powder and salt then stir in milk and vanilla until just combined

5. Pour batter over melted butter in dish without stirring

6. Spoon peach mixture with juice over batter without stirring

7. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the top

8. Bake 45 to 50 minutes until golden and bubbly

9. Rest 10 to 15 minutes before serving warm

Notes

Do not stir the batter and peach layers together before baking.

Use ripe fresh peaches for the best flavor.

Let the cobbler rest after baking so the juices thicken properly.
