Tender scallops seared to golden perfection in butter and flavored with fresh sage, garlic, and lemon. This butter seared scallops recipe is quick, easy, and incredibly delicious!


Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry packed sea scallops
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the scallops completely dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Carefully place the scallops in the hot skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  4. Sear the scallops for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  7. Stir in the chopped fresh sage and lemon juice. Simmer for another 30 seconds.
  8. Return the scallops to the skillet and toss to coat with the butter sage sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley, if desired.
