Decadent and easy to make, this Romantic Layered Trifle is filled with chocolate cake, fresh raspberries, and whipped cream. The perfect Valentine’s Day dessert!
Ingredients
- Store bought chocolate cake or brownie squares: 12 pieces
- Fresh raspberries: 1 pint
- Raspberry jam: ½ cup
- Lemon juice: ½ teaspoon optional
- Heavy cream: 1 cup
- Powdered sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract: ½ teaspoon
- Mascarpone cheese: 4 oz (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Raspberry Filling: Gently mash most of the raspberries with the raspberry jam in a bowl.
- Whip the Cream: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. If using mascarpone, gently fold it into the whipped cream.
- Assemble the Trifle: In individual glasses or small bowls, start with a layer of crumbled chocolate cake.
- Add a Layer of Raspberry Filling: Spoon a generous amount of raspberry filling over the cake.
- Top with Cream: Add a layer of the whipped cream mixture.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layers of cake, raspberry filling, and cream until you reach the top of the glass.
- Garnish: Decorate the top with fresh raspberries and chocolate shavings or curls.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
